...so he may not need any more hats, but I loved the colours in this yarn and I knew it would look fantastic in hat form!
The yarn was from my little collection of lovely yarns from snowberry and lime. It was intended to be a christmas gift but I must admit it went straight on his head and has become a regular upon his head ever since.
He (like most babies I'm sure) went through a stage of detesting hats upon his head and would remove them constantly, but recently quite the opposite is true, he loves wearing hats now, I expect it has something to do with his now found ability to say 'hat' and to put it on his head himself (well sort of), plus, of course, his daddy is quite a hat wearer too!
You can see all the knitting details on ravelry here.
...I saw a real one of these recently and I keep thinking about it, I would love love love to find a really good one full of real butterflies (the one I saw was amazing but in someone's home and not for sale unfortunately!). However I also saw a few pretend butterfly collections about the internets which inspired me to make my own.
With a little bit of advice from my very clever, paper crafting, friend Melody, a well priced charity shop box frame and a couple of hours I was able to put this together fairly easily.
I'm really fairly pleased with how it came out.
There are still so many picture hooks to fill in this new house of ours mind!

...a few of the wonderful bargains (and free stuff) I've bagged myself this past week or so...
...free plums, foraged from the garden of an abandoned house (I also have apples and a few blackberries from the same garden!), baked in a plum loaf...
I'm loving all this autumnal fruit!
...foraged sloes soaking in gin...
You're meant to leave the gin for 18 months before drinking, but I imagine I might just last until next summer before cracking open a bottle! Fortunately I picked just a few too many sloes so I should have a couple of bottles to stash away
...super cute and colourful, double pointed knitting needles, never been used, 10p a set...
the biggest set have already been put to work as you can see!
...a baby guitar for my baby...
he loves the full size acoustic bass we have, but I'm a little anxious about him playing with it and as soon as he spotted this in the charity shop I knew there was no way we'd be leaving without it, not without a HUGE tantrum anyway!
