...these arrived today from snowberry and lime. I have spent many hours looking through all the beautiful yarns there longing to own some, but never actually purchasing any! But now I have some I am so so glad I do! They are so beautiful I cannot wait to get knitting them up in to christmas gifts.
...these little fellas will all be showing up in my shop over the next week or so at super reduced prices and will be shipped for free!!
As I have been making ninjas for around about 3 years now obviously the way I make them, the equipment I use, etc has changed and as a result I have a few stragglers from the old ways hanging around which could really do with a new and welcoming home!

As my house is full of the smell of blackberries and apples from the making of fruit leather this morning, I thought that would be a grand theme for my folksy friday, so here goes,

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember....most of my plants did not enjoy moving house very much, or the lack of attention they have received as a result of the whole house moving process and are starting to reach the end of their little lives. However, there are still lots and lots of tomatoes waiting to ripen (both on the plants and off due to a couple of plants developing some rather suspicious looking black spots, which I feared may be the blight), peppers a plenty, a variety of leaves and a very pleasant surprise in some late strawberries.
Way back at the beginning of the year I purchased some strawberry runners, they flourished, but then all the plants I purchased started to fruit my runners didn't, then they started to shoot off their own runners so I gave up on the idea of them fruiting this year and figured they would just fruit next year. But I was wrong! They must be a late fruiting variety and now I have a whole fresh crop of really delicious strawberries!
I've also planted some bulbs ready for next spring and am already planning all the wonderful plants I hope to grow next year with all the extra space I have now. It may still be a rather small outside space that is either decked or shingled, but it is a whole lot bigger than my tiny roof terrace in the old house!
Also having shingle isn't all bad when you discover a little gem like this in there!

...plus a sneaky apple and a nice big bag of brambles.
We got a rather hefty 3lbs worth, which has since made it's way into a rather tasty, slightly festive jam and a delicious plum loaf.
...so I guess this means it really is the end of summer.
I remember reading somewhere last autumn that conkers deter spiders, I have no idea why, but as Johnny does not like spiders and our new house is rife with them, I thought I'd give it a go.
Don't get me wrong, I love spiders, but if this keeps them away then it's better than having to watch a grown man freak out over such a small creature and then witness the killing of said creature, or as he's been prone to do more recently, pointing the spiders out to Milo who's over excited 'playing' with them means Johnny doesn't have to partake in the killing himself.
...well it's been over a week now since we moved all of our many pocessions from one house to another and we are still long way off being unpacked and organised!
But here's a little of what's been going on...
:: Milo started nursery and experienced his first real injury. 17 months we've kept him pristine and on his first morning away he manages to fall on to the edge of a toy box!
:: we had a perfect ending to our last day in the old house with the must beautiful double rainbow at sunset (only one rainbow pictured above, but there were two, promise).
:: of course there was the big move day itself, keeping a toddler entertained and away from hazardous boxes was a very difficult task.
:: craft night in took place on wednesday at it's new venue. It was really really great and I'm already very much looking forward to the next one.
:: I managed to fall the entire height of our new staircase on saturday night (no drinking had been taking place I might add). It was incredibly frightening I properly tumbled all the way down, but despite a few bruises and a suspected broken finger, which on discovering I could still knit was decided probably wasn't broken after all, I am completely fine.
:: I have been buying lots of flowers to distract from the masses of boxes and general untidiness of the house. Johnny bought me the sunflowers after the ones I grew failed. There is a florist at the end of our new street, I imagine this may become a problem.
:: having a safe-for-toddlers garden, means I have to spend a lot of time fishing green tomatoes out of Milo's mouth and sweeping up piles of compost which have kindly been removed from pots for me. However watching him stomp around outside collecting stones and sticks and squealing with delight at the huge tree, make the very stressful moving business throughly worth it.
Right that is enough, unpacking distraction, for one morning xx
