...last year I had my first attempt at making macaroons inspired by theblackapple's posts on the matter. Well I failed miserably!
So much so-I don't think I ever thought I would try again (I know they are a tricky customer, but I don't have much patience!) But then I saw this...
...the cover of this month delicious magazine and I remembered why I wanted to make them in the first place. They really are so so beautiful!
So yesterday I had a second attempt-ignoring all the wonderful tips you'll find in theblackapple post, which I followed religiously on my first attempt and just followed the simple instructions laid out in the delicious recipe. Once I got to the piping stage I knew already they weren't going to work. If at that point-I came to the trusty internet and discovered this wonderful video I would have realised that I was piping all wrong-that my macaroons were far to thin. But of course I didn't see that until after all my skinny unsuccessful macaroons were baking in the oven.

I did manage a whole 3 that didn't crack on the top-that did have feet! And they are delicious-even if they aren't beautiful. I made rosewater, lemon and chocolate flavoured ones, I coloured them all too-but now can see that I didn't add enough colour.

If nothing else I have learned a lot and I'm ready for another attempt a little sooner than a whole year this time! Maybe even today! This time I think I will follow the delicious recipe again and follow all the tips I discovered on the internet during my research.
Maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to produce something like this...
