...yep that's more knitting...
I can't stop-I think it may be an addiction! I'm thinking about knitting all the time at the moment! I'm reading about it and dreaming about it and well doing quite a lot of it too!
I've been knitting myself some arm warmers and set myself the challenge of doing it all from my head-no pattern just a few notes I squiggled down regarding measurements before I started.
I've finished one and it seems to work so I'm quite pleased with myself!
...yep more knitting...
I can't stop at the moment, I'm really enjoying picking up those needles and getting completely consumed in the click clicking of it all!
I've had my eye on this pattern for a while now, the Vanilla nappy soaker by Kelly Brooker, but wasn't sure how useful a wool soaker would actually be. After a little research I discovered that you can waterproof them and that they hardly need washing! I was sold!
This pattern is so comprehensive and so easy to follow it's wonderful. After a brief stint on circular needles for the first time I'm afraid I switched to double pointed needles. Maybe my circular needles were too long, but I got tired very quickly of having to push stitches up and down all over the place, the only problem I have now is that my dpn's aren't long enough really and I have to keep an eye on those pesky stitches that keep jumping off the ends!
If this finishes up well I have a feeling my babe may find himself in a lot of wool!
...finishing off the second sweater...
So, so pleased with how this turned out. It was really easy and quick to knit up and it looks great, it's a little smaller than I expected (hoped) was thinking it would last him through next winter too, but I don't really mind the prospect of knitting him another bigger one, in fact I'm quite looking forward to it!
Love the way the hood sits and the tassels!
Whilst we were away I did a lot of knitting! I don't normally get that much time to knit as I'm usually making ninjas in the evenings and of course tending to the babe during the day, so I made the most of the time I had!
I finished off Milo's stripy sweater from Debbie Bliss' Simply Baby (you can find all the details on my ravelry page).
And I made a start on another jumper for Milo from this fab book I picked up at my favourite second hand book shop, in Cromer.
I'm making the tassel top which is all garter stitch and one lovely big piece of knitting that will just need seaming down the sides. I've nearly finished and am really really pleased with how it looks so far.
...we had a wonderful long week in Norfolk, Milo and I, visiting oh so many family members, including the very new. Here's a glimpse of our week in pictures...
...of course meeting the newest little one...
...cheeky cousins of the bigger variety and an amazing new mama...
...lots of painting in my Mum's shop...
It was very lovely indeed! There was also a lot of knitting, which I'll share later.
...to meet this little one...
my newest (and only nephew) born at 3.30 on Saturday morning weighing a very healthy 8lb. I cannot wait to meet him tomorrow!
So as I will be far to distracted by this little man, for much of anything at all really, and I'll be way up in Norfolk, I will be closing my folksy shop, and although leaving my etsy shop open, will not be shipping out any purchases until Thursday 18th Feb. So if you are in the UK (I cannot guarantee valentines shipping for anywhere else now I'm afraid) and want to grab a treat for your loved one, make sure you do so today and I'll send them out to you tomorrow.
I will try to blog whilst away but will have very limited access to the internet-so may be gone a while!
However I can promise many more pictures of this little one when I return!
...shamrock ninjas...
I'm a day ahead of myself today, because I'm off on a little holiday tomorrow and managed to get a little crafting done this morning whilst Milo entertained himself by standing up with the help of the sofa ledge (hmmm seems it may not be long before that boy is walking).
I was asked to make one of these by a customer and thought I'd make a little trio whilst I was at it. I wouldn't normally make anything St Patricks day inspired, as well, I don't celebrate it (or know anyone that does really) but there is first time for everything!
